Tati Gabrielle’s character has gone through a major change Mortal Kombat fans weren’t ready for, but others say it’s exactly what the future movie needs. Let's see.

Things aren’t looking that good for yet another movie based on the “Mortal Kombat” video game series now that its first trailer teases a shocking physical change in Jade’s appearance.

In what some may see as a parallel with The Last of Us and Bella Ramsey’s role in it, Mortal Kombat fans have been extremely protective of the game’s lore, which at some point also resulted in the movie franchise’s mixed or negative reactions.

With one more film on the way, Mortal Kombat might be getting into an even bigger trouble after revealing Jade’s new look, though some fans think the major change might be for the better after all.

Fans Are Divided Over Bold Jade in ’Mortal Kombat II’ New Trailer

Even though some suggested the bold look must be Tati Gabrielle’s thing to get in every new contract, others were still confused about Jade’s decision to cut her hair, considering that the original game depicts her as a long and dark-haired Amazonian type of girl.

“Everything I've seen with Tati Gabrielle looks the exact same. This just feels like a self-insert as a pre-existing character”, Redditor GunpowderxGelatine complained in a movie-related thread.

“I wish they gave her a wig or just casted someone else. I don’t get why they went with this choice, it’s really confusing”, Ghost_Waifu_ agreed.

This, however, wasn’t the only perspective that Mortal Kombat fans reflected upon, with some also suggesting that the story definitely needed this kind of upgrade after so many adaptations.

“Because the producers/directors/writers/studios need their personal spin on everything..they can't stick to source material”, OwnLadder3142 retorted.

“Every iteration of Mortal Kombat has a new way of how they want the characters to look. Looks like they took her look in a new direction... it's not that crazy”, DashingDevin added.

Fans Have Low Expectations From Mortal Kombat II’ After 2021 Original Movie

With many still not getting the reason behind Jade’s new controversial look, the original video game’s players would rather not set the bar high for the upcoming sequel for 2021’s Mortal Kombat.

The latter received mixed reviews and eventually flopped in the box office, grossing $84 million against the budget of $55 million.

The second film, currently slated for a release on October 24, sees Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Ludi Lin and others reprising their roles, as well as Karl Urban and Tati Gabrielle joining the leading cast.
