Try this recipe next time when you decide to serve meat or fish at your family table.

There are all kinds of sauces that go well with both meat and fish dishes, but nothing makes it like the authentic French tartar sauce which makes the entire meal even better. Mixing the delicious creamy flavor, sour notes and exotic additions, this sauce won’t be a problem for those not ready to spend much time on preparing it.

In fact, it will likely turn out even better than the one you’re used to buying in the grocery store.

Ingredients: 200 g of mayonnaise, 2–3 pickled cucumbers, 1 tbsp of capers, 2 green onions, 1–2 sprigs of dill or parsley, 1 tsp of lemon juice, 1 tsp of Dijon mustard, black pepper to your liking.

Finely chop the pickled cucumbers and capers, then do the same with the herbs and green onions.

In a bowl, combine the mayonnaise and Dijon mustard. Add the lemon juice and black pepper. Stir in the cucumbers, capers, and herbs. If you like, add grated egg yolk or garlic. Then stir again until smooth.

Cover the sauce and refrigerate for 20–30 minutes. During this time, the flavor will become richer and more balanced.

What you can serve with the tartar sauce: pan-fried and baked fish, seafood, French fries and Idaho potatoes, grilled vegetables, as well as chicken and turkey.
