I’ve always had mixed feelings about sequels. If a film was already great — complete in its own right — why revisit it? Why not adapt a brilliant book, explore a fresh idea, or, for once, make a film out of an original video game story that doesn’t collapse halfway through?
Still, I’d love to see a smart, stylish follow-up to The Devil Wears Prada. I just hope it won’t disappoint — I’ve got my fingers crossed, and I know I’m not alone. But like it or not, nostalgia sells, and two more fan favourites are now stepping back into the spotlight.
My Best Friend’s Wedding Returns?
According to Dermot Mulroney, Sony is moving forward with a sequel to the 1997 romantic hit. The studio has already contacted the original cast’s reps — schedules and salaries are on the table.
The film starred Julia Roberts and Mulroney as friends-turned-potential lovers. And Roberts herself recently said it’s the one role she’d consider returning to. Perhaps Julianne has more chaos (and karaoke?) left in her.

Filmmaker Gurinder Chadha has confirmed she’s working on a follow-up to her 2002 hit, with a release aimed at 2027, marking the film’s 25th anniversary — and timed to align with the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
After years of saying no, Chadha finally found 'a super-cool story' and hopes to bring back the original cast — including Keira Knightley and Parminder Nagra — if the script lands.
So, one sequel revisits tangled hearts, the other returns to the pitch. Will they recapture the spark — or just the title? Time will tell.
