The Simple "Wrong Hand" Trick to Stop Overeating and Boost Your Metabolism
You don’t have to count calories and spend hours in the gym — making your mealtime more complicated will work better.
Losing a couple of kilos before an important date remains one of the most popular goals for millions of people, and the methods of doing so have been pretty much the same for decades.
Many try to reduce the amount of food they eat per day, count calories and buy a gym membership, though all of this isn’t as effective as a much simpler suggestion. As it turns out, all you need to do is to start eating with a “wrong” hand.
Eating With a Non-Dominant Hand Will Make You Consume Less, Richard Wiseman Says
As the scientist has recently revealed in his new research, changing your hand for the non-dominant one while eating can make your mealtime much more conscious due to the additional effort.
After a thorough study Wiseman, professor of social psychology at the University of Hertfordshire in the UK, came to a conclusion that right-handed people consume less food while eating with their left hand. Meanwhile, left-handed people do the same eating with their right hand.
This is explained by the fact that a person who eats with their non-dominant hand becomes slower in actions and more attentive to what they’re doing, thus getting full more quickly.
Trying to Eat Less? Put a Mirror in Your Kitchen
Another possible solution Wiseman has recently shared is a method that relies mostly on people’s perception of themselves while looking at the mirror.
As the scientist explained, many tend to opt for healthier food options when they see their reflections in the mirror, prompting themselves to make a more conscious choice and eat slower than usual.
Wiseman also suggested people trying to lose some weight should place a mirror in their kitchen — eventually, it will result in better food habits and clearer understanding of what one eats.
