The Underrated K-Drama That Will Get Your Right in the Feels Is My Ultimate Comfort Watch

Don't mind me. I'm just ugly-crying over a K-drama again. This one is a rewatchable, absolutely heartbreaking and moving must-watch.
Have you ever felt frustrated after watching a show that moved and inspired you but you had no one to discuss it with? Because I have. Usually this kind of thing happens with shows that are extremely overlooked and underappreciated. These situations are upsetting and it feels like shouting into the void because nobody you know seems to have discovered this gem yet.
That's why I'm breaking my silence about a show that's become my go-to comfort watch, a series that somehow manages to brighten even my gloomiest of days.
Be Melodramatic (2019) Is My Personal Comfort Blanket in K-Drama Form
Be Melodramatic avoids the use of cliches, and that's one of the things I really like about it. The show keeps it real (embarrassingly real even).
We follow three friends who all work in the film industry (an interesting peek behind the curtains). These three besties are Lim Jin Joo, Lee Eun Jung, and Hwang Han Joo, each navigating their own struggles in both their personal and professional lives. I appreciate that the drama portrays these women as messy, real and totally relatable.
Between the light moments, there are absolutely soul-crushing ones that will leave you in tears questioning everything you know about life. The show tackles heavy topics with great delicacy.
Be Melodramatic Deserves Way More Recognition Than It Gets
Be Melodramatic got totally slept on when it first came out and that's a crime. The writing is sharp and the characters feel real.
I'm also glad to see a genuinely good depiction of female friendship. They are not being defined by their love interests. These women have careers they're passionate about, dreams they're chasing, and messy lives they're trying to figure out.
Thankfully though, I am not the only one who thinks this way. As Redditor lovelifelivelife wrote:
“If you're someone who wants to watch a drama about 3 30-year-old working women struggling in life, or a drama full of friendships and relationships that are true to life, please consider watching this. It needs more attention!”
And I truly hope that someday Be Melodramatic will get the recognition it deserves. But for now, you can go and give it some love yourself.
Be Melodramatic is available on Netflix, Kocowa, Rakuten Viki and OnDemandKorea.
