Five simplest ingredients are all you need for a quick sweet treat.

We all know that feeling when you crave for something sweet with a new taste, but also have no desire to spend hours trying to assemble and then bake a whole cake.

Luckily, the social media is full of recipes that promise you a great treat after only 10 minutes of cooking. In this case, the vanilla sour cream dessert might be just what you need, especially if you doubted sour cream’s ability to taste this good.

Here’s what you need: 3–4 shortbread cookies, 100 g of thick sour cream, 25 g of powdered sugar, 1 heaping tablespoon of raisins, 1 heaping tablespoon of shelled walnuts, a pinch of vanilla, orange zest (optional), fruit (optional).

Start by making the cream: take thick sour cream, add powdered sugar, and stir with a mixer or fork until smooth. Then add a small pinch of vanilla or a couple of drops of vanilla essence (this will make the cream very flavor-filled).

Next, prepare the raisins and lightly chopped walnuts. If you like, you can add pieces of banana, apricots, candied fruit, or a bit of orange zest. First, put in the cookie pieces, then a bit of raisins and nuts (or fruit), and top it with sour cream. Repeat the layers until you run out of ingredients.

Put the completed dessert in the fridge for at least 20 minutes. During this time, it will cool down well, the cookies will soak up the cream slightly and become tender. If you leave the dessert for a few hours, the cookies will become even softer.
