Just one mistake can cause fans to abandon a show. What did The Walking Dead: Dead City do to cause viewers to stop watching?

The Walking Dead used to keep us on the edge of our seats with our hearts racing as we experienced a whole bunch of emotions. However, with the spin-off Dead City, things are starting to change.

The main issue: the franchise is becoming more and more unrealistic.

‘Dead City’ Turned Survivor Horror Into a Walk in the Park

Unlike the original show where every encounter with walkers felt like a life-or-death situation, Dead City seems to have lost that edge. In the early seasons of TWD, nobody was safe. Even a single walker could spell doom for our favorite characters.

But: in Dead City, our main characters are practically doing the impossible. It doesn't feel dangerous like it used to anymore. Sure, there are some seasoned survivors, but come on, even they should have their own limits.

What made TWD so good in the first place: the constant threat of danger. When you strip away that fear factor, what are you left with? Just another zombie show trying to cash in on the franchise's name.

Fans Have Spoken: ‘Dead City’ Needs to Raise Its Stakes

"I would have never thought the spin offs would turn me off on the Walking Dead but here we are. Dead City it makes them all feel like superheroes and the Daryl and Rick adventures feels not like the Walking Dead. It’s like they tried to make Rick the ultimate machine but veered off plot," Redditor MAKincs wrote.

"The show used to be good because the audience didn't know who was going to live or die. Now we are basically watching the avengers. Each main character is a super hero," another fan, izbsleepy1989 on Reddit pointed out.

“It's terrible I had to stop watching. Series is on life support they fumbled,” Redditor jetlife0047 said.

But what do you think about ‘The Walking Dead: Dead City’?

How Can ‘The Walking Dead: Dead City’ Fix This Problem?

The answer: keep it real. Bring back the fear factor. Make the series scary and engaging again. Show us that even our favorite characters can get into serious trouble. Because watching basically invincible characters is not the TWD we signed up for.
