The Winds of Winter Needs to Fix Game of Thrones’ Annoying Jon Snow Mistake

A Song of Ice and Fire fans now have one more reason to hope for the book series’ next instalment.
One of the most successful shows on modern TV, Game of Thrones also remains a pretty controversial matter that had many problems with both critics and viewers back in the day.
The show came as a TV adaptation of George Martin ’s A Song of Ice and Fire book series, though it has long been labeled unfaithful to its source material, with Martin himself repeatedly slamming it too.
Having concluded after 8 seasons back in 2019, Game of Thrones never did justice to Martin’s legacy, mismanaging numerous storylines or even completely ignoring some of the key events.
Now that the author’s story is awaiting its long-overdue continuation, A Song of Ice and Fire’s next instalment needs to give several major updates, including some more details about a part of Jon Snow’s story unfairly omitted by the series.
Game of Thrones Never Mentioned Jon Snow’s (Almost) Unique Ability
The series quickly went into disgrace with the audiences when it made things clear about completely ignoring some of the crucial parts of Martin’s story, making the TV characters seem way less compelling than in the original books.
This also concerned several lead characters, including Jon Snow, in Game of Thrones portrayed by Kit Harrington. Snow’s death in Game of Thrones’ season 6 was another controversial plot twist that many assumed didn’t gain its full meaning since the series itself never mentions the character’s specific ability.
In George Martin’s books, Jon Snow has a unique power of turning into his direwolf, Ghost; in fact, it’s the ability that all the Stark children are supposed to have, yet no one develops it as much as Bran Stark.
Snow, however, might have been able to take advantage of his gift, turning into Ghost and reliving all the events happening throughout the time he remained dead after his own men killed him.
George Martin’s The Winds of Winter Needs to Explore Jon Snow’s Arc
With A Song of Ice and Fire not yet reaching Game of Thrones’ events in season 8, there’s still plenty of possibilities for George Martin to right the wrongs that forever damaged the TV adaptation.
Jon Snow’s character has been long regarded as someone with way more potential than shown in the series; additionally, even Kit Harrington once revealed he would be disappointed to see Snow coming back to life just the way he was before, without a slightest change.
This issue, like many others created by Game of Thrones, can be fixed in Martin’s upcoming book The Winds of Winter which will become a penultimate instalment in A Song of Ice and Fire series.
By delving more into Jon Snow’s background story and his personal power connecting him to Ghost, the writer can make the character an even more compelling figure able to see things way beyond than he did in HBO’s series.
