Four teenage girls murdered, justice delayed, secrets finally brought to light.

If you’re into true crime, I have a feeling The Yogurt Shop Murders is going to be right up your alley this summer. Premiering on August 3, 2025, on HBO (and streaming on HBO Max), this four-part docuseries dives deep into one of Austin, Texas’s most chilling cold cases from the early ’90s.

So, what’s the story? Back on December 6, 1991, four teenage girls — Amy Ayers (13), Jennifer and Sarah Harbison (17 and 15), and Eliza Thomas (17) — were brutally murdered at an I Can’t Believe It’s Yogurt shop in Northwest Austin.

The victims were bound, shot, and the perpetrators tried to cover their tracks by setting the shop on fire. It’s one of those crimes that shocked the community and stayed unsolved for years.

The docuseries doesn’t just rehash the crime. It digs into the messy investigation that followed — including the wrongful convictions of two men, Robert Springsteen and Michael Scott, who served years behind bars before DNA evidence cleared them in 2009.

I’m really interested to see how the series handles the failures in the justice system and the impact on the families.

Directed by Margaret Brown, the show premiered early at SXSW this year and now comes to HBO with a focus on interviews, archival footage, and real insights from people involved. I love docuseries that don’t just sensationalize but dig deep into the truth, and this looks like one of those.

If you’re planning to watch, episodes drop weekly on Sunday nights at 10 p.m. ET, so plenty of time to binge (or savor slowly). For me, this doc is not just a true crime story — it’s about justice, memory, and how communities heal.
