There Is No ‘Twilight’ Saga Movie in 2025 — Here’s What Fans Are Actually Getting Instead

Sometimes it takes years or decades for franchises to get another long-anticipated chapter, that’s why Twilight’s fans still haven’t given up their hope to see something more about Bella and Edward’s life now that they’re both vampires.

In fact, the overall excitement somehow started up a wild rumour about a possible sixth movie for the Twilight saga, though nothing like this has ever been confirmed by the franchise’s home company Summit Entertainment, Stephanie Meyer herself, or the movies’ leading actors.

However, Twilight’s fans still might want to get updates on another related project that’s currently in production at Netflix.

‘Twilight’ Spinoff Animated Series ‘Midnight Sun’ Is Now In the Works

Though there’s still nothing to know how things are going for Bella, Edward and Jacob after Breaking Dawn’s second part, at least fans will get to see how the entire story was seen from Edward’s perspective.

Announced by Netflix last year, the upcoming animated TV series will be adapting Stephanie Meyer’s spinoff novel titled “The Midnight Sun” which recounts “Twilight”’s story from Edward’s point of view.

The authoress will be directly involved in the production as one of producers, with Netflix also aiming at offering a more stylised portrayal of leading characters and the world of vampires and werewolves.

So far, not much is known about the show, the release date of which is also a mystery at the moment.

Ironically, Summit Entertainment Actually Wanted Sixth Movie for ‘Twilight’ Franchise

Now the movie series is officially gone with no more sequels planned, but back in the day the movies’ producers had to endure a temptation to start writing yet another instalment.

In 2012, at the time when Breaking Dawn Part 2 was released, it was reported that Summit Entertainment would be eager to do another movie about Bella and Edward if Stephanie Meyer had written one more book for the series.

As outlets were stressing, the final movie of the franchise was expected to gross more than $700 million in the box office (it actually went on to earn $848 million worldwide), so this was some sort of an invitation for a follow-up.

Back then, Twilight’s producers reportedly claimed that, in case Meyer would wish to write another "Twilight" book, they would gladly support her with a movie adaptation.

As the franchise’s fans know quite well, the book was never in the authoress’ plans anyway.
