This 5-Minute Homemade Yum Yum Sauce Tastes Just Like the Steakhouse Version
A creamy, sweet, and tangy dipping sauce that makes absolutely everything taste better.
If you love the signature pink sauce from Japanese steakhouses, you will be shocked by how easy it is to whip up at home. You just toss a few pantry staples into a bowl, give it a quick whisk, and you have the perfect rich sauce for dipping shrimp, chicken, or fries.
Here’s what you need for 8 servings: 1 cup of mayonnaise (Kewpie is best, but regular works fine), 1 tablespoon of ketchup or tomato paste, 2 tablespoons of rice vinegar, 1 tablespoon of sugar, 1 teaspoon of sweet paprika, 2 teaspoons of garlic powder, ½ teaspoon of cayenne pepper (optional, for a kick of heat), and 2 to 3 tablespoons of water to thin it out.
To start, grab a medium mixing bowl or a glass mason jar and measure out all of your ingredients. Whisk everything together vigorously until the spices are fully blended and the mixture turns completely smooth and creamy.
Gradually pour in the water, one tablespoon at a time, whisking continuously until the sauce reaches your preferred dipping consistency.
Pop a lid on your bowl or jar and slide it into the refrigerator for at least 30 to 40 minutes before serving. If you can leave it in there for a few hours or even overnight, the flavors will marry together and taste even closer to the real deal.
