Tom Cruise has wowed viewers more than once with insane stunts as Ethan Hunt, but his most dangerous one was in Fallout. Here's why it deserves special attention.

Almost 30 years have passed since the release of the first Mission: Impossible film. After seven more movies and an incredible number of death-defying stunts, Tom Cruise has decided to do the most daring thing yet: say goodbye to the character and the franchise that gave him and the viewers an adrenaline rush.

Context: On May 23, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, the final film in the franchise, hit theaters. However, Tom Cruise performed his most dangerous and impressive stunt in Fallout, and not even his latest movie could surpass it.

You may recall Cruise climbing the Burj Khalifa in Ghost Protocol or flying outside a plane in Rogue Nation, but he used insurance for both of these stunts.

Important to note: There could not have been any insurance for the stunt shown in Fallout.

In the sixth movie, Ethan Hunt performs a HALO jump – he skydived from a great height, and the parachute opened only about 2,000 feet from the ground.

The background: To prepare for the stunt, Cruise made more than 100 training jumps – he also had to perform a number of maneuvers in the air. According to the plot, Ethan manages to bring his partner back to his senses after he loses consciousness.

As if that weren't difficult enough, the scene was filmed at golden hour so that the lighting would be more even and striking. Because of this, the film crew had only a few hours each day to get everything right.

If you still think it was too easy, consider that Cruise performed this stunt while recovering from a broken ankle. While filming Fallout, Cruise jumped from one building to another and seriously injured his ankle. He spent several months recovering.

Tom Cruise Did Not Limit Himself to One Extremely Risky Stunt in 'Fallout'

This wasn't the only impressive stunt in Fallout.

Quick recap: In the finale, Ethan Hunt must chase the main villain, played by Henry Cavill, in a helicopter.

Meanwhile, Hunt must dodge rocks against the backdrop of picturesque New Zealand landscapes. In just six weeks, Tom Cruise learned to fly a helicopter and perform complex aerial maneuvers.

Somewhere in the middle of the chase, he hangs upside down from a flying helicopter – all at a great height.
