This 97%-Rated Jane Austen Movie Made Jacob Elordi Cry His Eyes Out: "I Just Broke Down"
And it's not Pride and Prejudice.
Jacob Elordi, a rising star known for Euphoria and Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein, consciously avoids the Hollywood heartthrob trope by choosing dramatic roles.
While preparing for one of his most challenging projects, the role of Heathcliff in the new adaptation of Wuthering Heights, Elordi found an unexpected source of inspiration and emotional release in the classic Jane Austen adaptation.
Jacob Elordi Revealed That He "Cried Through" Ang Lee's 'Sense and Sensibility'

In an interview with W Magazine, the actor explained that he took his mind off the stress by watching Ang Lee's 1995 movie Sense and Sensibility:
“I watched Ang Lee's Sense and Sensibility, and there's a moment when Kate Winslet's character has an emotional realization.
I was sitting there, eating ice cream, and then I just broke down with her character. I cried through that movie, just at the hopeless beauty of us all.”
What Is 'Sense and Sensibility' About?
This adaptation of one of Jane Austen's most famous novels tells the story of the Dashwood sisters, Elinor (Emma Thompson) and Marianne (Kate Winslet). After their father's death leaves them penniless, the sisters must navigate the challenges of 18th-century society.
It masterfully explores the fragile position of women in late 18th-century society who were forced to balance social conventions with their heart's desires.
Elinor embodies "sense," representing restraint, duty, and self-sacrifice, while Marianne embodies "sensibility," representing impetuosity, romanticism, and the open expression of emotion.
Marianne in 'Sense and Sensibility' Is One of the First (& Most Brilliant) Kate Winslet Roles

Sense and Sensibility was a true revelation of Kate Winslet's acting talent, two years before her breakout role in Titanic.
Her portrayal of Marianne, a passionate, dreamy, and precociously emotional young woman, is a masterpiece of acting – it earned Winslet her first Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
Ang Lee's movie won the Golden Bear in Berlin and an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay and is considered one of the best Austen adaptations ever.
Emma Thompson, who played Elinor, rewrote the script seven times, striking the perfect balance between staying true to the source material and adding cinematic flair.
