Shizuka is a junior high school student and an outcast who experiences bullying and tries to cope with loneliness. Her only support is her faithful dog, Chappy.

Unexpectedly, she meets Takopi – a small pink octopus who calls itself a Happian, a resident of the planet Happy. Its goal is to bring happiness to the universe, and Shizuka is its first test subject.

Now, Takopi must go back in time to discover what went wrong and fix it.

'Takopi's Original Sin' Explores Bullying From Different Angles

All of the characters in Takopi's Original Sin experience varying degrees of loneliness. Shizuka's mother, who is always at work, doesn't pay attention to her daughter at all.

Marina, the initiator of Shizuka's bullying at school, is her main tormentor. She herself is mean because of trauma – Marina is also an abandoned child who comes home and listens to her parents quarrel.

Rather than blaming any of the characters, the creators delve into their backstories to show that each participant in the bullying is unhappy.

After watching the first episode, I was sure that this is a story about bullying and its causes. However, it soon becomes clear that the creators of Takopi's Original Sin are not limited to just drama – the title is much deeper and more diverse.

There will be love triangles, destructive love, and the sacrifices people are willing to make for it. Then, the title transforms into a detective story involving police officers, victims, and a large-scale investigation.

There will also be adventure – the new friends are planning to go to Tokyo to search for the dog Chappy.
