Is the end near for the most powerful character in Gen V?

Gen V, the ongoing spinoff of The Boys, has expanded the universe by introducing a young generation of supes, with some of them being especially intriguing for their powers and potential. One of the most intriguing supes introduced so far is definitely Cate.

Spoiler alert for Gen V episode 5!

Cate Dunlap is not a typical student at Godolkin University. She was the girlfriend of the Golden Boy (before he died). In episode 5, it was revealed that Cate works for the shady Indira Shetty, the dean of Godolkin University. It was actually predictable, and many fans saw this coming.

One of the most intriguing aspects of Cate is her unique superpower: persuasion. She can influence people's actions and decisions by merely touching them and giving verbal commands. This power, which she refers to as "pushing," can make individuals act against their best interests.

It's so potent that she can even erase memories or manipulate emotions. However, there's a catch. Cate needs to be in physical contact with the person to use her power, and she has to wear gloves constantly to prevent accidental "pushing."

Considering how incredibly powerful she is, it's no wonder fans speculate about her fate. A Reddit chat recently pointed out that her power's potential is off the charts. If she decided to go incognito and use her abilities sneakily, she could become virtually unstoppable.

Because of her immense potential, some fans think she could have a tough time surviving in the story. It's tricky for the writers to always come up with ways to work around such an over-the-top ability.

If she's always the solution to every problem, where's the drama? Where's the suspense? It's like having a cheat code in a video game; it's fun at first, but then it gets boring real quick.

It's a classic storytelling move: introduce an incredibly powerful character and then find a way to neutralize them to keep the plot interesting. Plus, she betrayed the protagonists. Even though she showed some remorse, her death won’t raise too many eyebrows.

Do you think Cate will die?
