If you are looking for a straightforward baking project to sweeten your weekend, this retro favorite is the perfect alternative to overly complicated modern recipes.

There is no need to roll out sticky dough or worry about a cake sinking in the oven; instead, you simply press a rich, buttery chocolate crumble into a pan, layer it with a smooth, sweet cottage cheese filling, and top it with the remaining crisp crumbs.

The contrast between the crunchy exterior and the melt-in-your-mouth center creates a satisfying treat that pairs beautifully with a cup of hot tea or coffee.

Ingredients: For the dough: 280 g of flour, 1 heaping tablespoon of cocoa powder, 4 tablespoons of sugar, 180 g of butter, 1 teaspoon of baking powder

For the filling: 400 g of cottage cheese, 4 eggs, 6 tablespoons of sugar, 2–3 tablespoons of sour cream, 1 tablespoon of cornstarch.

Mix the flour, cocoa, sugar, and baking powder.

Add cold butter and rub everything into crumbs.

In a separate bowl, combine the cottage cheese, eggs, sugar, sour cream, and cornstarch. Stir until smooth, with no large lumps.

Line a baking pan with parchment paper.

Spread half of the chocolate crumbs in the pan and lightly press down.

Spread the curd filling evenly on top.

Sprinkle the remaining crumbs over the top, completely covering the surface.

Bake in an oven preheated to 180–190 °C for about 40 minutes until golden brown.

Let the cake cool completely, then cut into portions.
