Your next weekend binge.

While many people laughed at the Western mania that seemed to take over streaming platforms and production studios after the huge success of Taylor Sheridan 's Yellowstone, now that the show is coming to an end, it might be the best time to look back and see what they had to offer as a replacement.

Of course, there won't be another Dutton family, and there's no need, as Yellowstone leaves behind a rich legacy of spinoffs and moves on to the next one, most likely involving some of the Duttons. But sometimes it's just fun to refresh your palette.

And what better way to do that than with a good old western series with a mysterious science fiction twist?

Outer Range Season 2 Release Date

With a 79% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Outer Range is a very solid answer to the success of Yellowstone. In fact, the show brings even more excitement to its viewers, so if you are generally more impressed by mystery than mindless action and gunplay, you may appreciate it even more.

The first season of Outer Range, consisting of 8 episodes, introduces the viewer to the Abbott family living on their ranch in Wyoming. Together, patriarch Royal Abbott, his wife and two sons must solve the mystery of a black void that has appeared in the pasture and fight for their land against the rival family, the Tillersons.

The show stars Josh Brolin as the loyal father and husband and ranch owner Royal Abbott, and Imogen Poots as Autumn, a strange woman camping on the land whose appearance seems to be somehow connected to the void.

Mysterious and dramatic, Outer Range manages to make westerns not only exciting, but at times eerie, forcing viewers to question their sanity along with the characters. While 8 episodes definitely wasn't enough to explore all the mysteries, it was just what Prime Video needed to get viewers hooked and excited for season 2.

According to the star of the series, Josh Brolin, the second season of the show will be available on Amazon Prime Video this May. So keep an eye out for more news and behind-the-scenes updates so you don't miss the premiere.
