This Trailer Beat All Records: Ryan Gosling, Space Mission… and 400 Million Views — Have You Watched It?

Set for 2026, and it’s already making history.
The trailer for Project Hail Mary has landed — and it’s already making headlines across the galaxy (well, the internet). With over 400 million views in just seven days, counting all platforms, it’s now the most-watched trailer ever for a non-sequel or remake, according to Amazon/MGM. Not bad for a film that won’t even hit cinemas until March 2026.
Adapted from Andy Weir’s bestselling novel (yes, the same Andy Weir behind The Martian), the story follows a lone astronaut who wakes up on a spaceship with no memory — and gradually realises he might be humanity’s only hope. It’s the kind of high-concept sci-fi that fans love: personal, cosmic, and packed with existential stakes. And with Ryan Gosling in the lead role, joined by Sandra Hüller, it’s little wonder the trailer is turning heads.
Behind the camera are Phil Lord and Chris Miller, known for mixing humour and heart in unexpected ways (21 Jump Street). Early reactions suggest this won’t be a typical space drama — and judging by the numbers, it’s already captured the attention of more than just sci-fi die-hards. Could this be the next big crossover hit? Stranger things have happened.
