Since its release in 2016 the sci-fi horror series Stranger Things has taken Netflix by storm, racking up numerous awards and a massive fanbase, earning a steady spot on Netflix's top 10 list week after week, making it one of the streaming service's most successful shows of all time.

The success of Stranger Things can be largely credited to the creators and producers of the show, the Duffer Brothers. The pair have earned notoriety for their writing of the show, delivering chilling twists, adding hidden references throughout the series, and their overall award-winning storytelling.

There have been many unscripted moments in the series so far, one of the most impactful being Eddie telling Dustin, "I love you, man" in his final moments. This was as devastating as it was touching for fans, who can't imagine the moment being any other way. The Duffer Brothers certainly go all out to create impact.

However, there can come a time when a line needs to be drawn, and one must ask:

How far is too far?

Recently on an episode of Beyond Stranger Things, a show giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at the series with cast members, another unscripted moment was revealed but fans were far less receptive of this scene.

Friends' Cringiest Scene Proving the Show Didn't Age Well

Max and Lucas form a friendship that turns into an unlikely romance when Max, played by Sadie Sink, joins the Hawkins gang in season 2. The fearless, fiery-haired skater girl with a very well-hidden soft side became an instant fan favorite, and it's no surprise that the other characters grew fond of her quickly too. It came out in an episode of Beyond Stranger Things that one sweet moment shared between the couple wasn't so sweet in real life for Sadie.

"It was not written in the script. The kiss was not written in the script."

On the first day of filming the Snow Ball, a Hawkins High School dance that the group attended, it was revealed to Sadie that she and Caleb (Lucas) would be sharing a kiss. She talks about being understandably caught off guard and feeling unprepared. This move by the Duffer Brothers could have been excused as part of their strategy for filming the scene, perhaps to get real emotions of anxiousness from Max's character, but the actions of one of the brothers make fans think otherwise.

The Most Ridiculous Scene in Harry Potter Nobody Talks About

Sadie goes on to speak about one of the Duffer Brothers, Ross, teasing and poking fun at her over the upcoming scene, adding to her stress and discomfort. Ross Duffer goes on to reveal that he was initially joking, but her reaction prompted him to go ahead with making the pair (of minors) kiss. It should be added that it was both of the cast members' first real-life kiss.

Caleb too was uncomfortable doing the scene, and it had to be shot multiple times. Fans were not happy with this revelation either, taking Sadie's side. Although the Duffer Brothers are known for being unconventional in their methods, nobody is without fault, and fans can only hope that they do not put their cast in any more uncomfortable situations for the sake of filming, no matter how great they think the outcome may be.
