Though the actress-singer’s chances still look pretty scarce compared to Zoe Saldaña’s.

The Oscar ceremony is getting closer as major media outlets make their last bets about who will win big this time, and things do look a bit complicated so far.

That said, of the 5 nominees in each main category, at least two of those are the frontrunners with almost equal chances for a win: for Best Picture, it’s either Brady Corbet’s The Brutalist or Sean Baker’s Anora; for Best Actor, chances are high for either Timothée Chalamet or Adrien Brody to take home the award; lastly, in the Best Actress category Demi Moore and Mikey Madison are both likely to become winners.

However, there’s not so much certainty in other major nominations either, since one of the upcoming ceremonies might uplift another actress’ position in the Oscar race.

Ariana Grande Might Still Receive an Oscar If She Wins at SAG

Though the Golden Globes and the BAFTAs are reasonably considered the most faithful Oscar predictions, the SAG Awards is also there to change the Academy voters’ mind in case the former chooses an unexpected winner.

The Oscars will traditionally wrap the awards season up on March 2, but before that The Screen Actors Guild Awards also has to announce their favorites on February 23, and the upcoming ceremony might be the last chance for Ariana Grande to secure an Oscar.

Considered one of the frontrunners for the Best Supporting Actress statuette alongside Emilia Pérez’s Zoe Saldaña, Grande has so far been left with no major awards, all of which have gone to Saldaña.

If the singer, who masterfully portrayed Glinda in Jon M. Chu’s musical fairytale Wicked, is all of a sudden a winner at the SAG Awards, things are likely to look a lot better for her ahead of the Oscars ceremony.

Despite Emilia Pérez’s Controversy, Zoe Saldaña Is Still the Most Likely Oscar Winner

Even though the situation for Jacques Audiard’s criminal musical drama is still bad, Zoe Saldaña is one of the cast members who have nothing to do with the movie’s issues.

After receiving a bunch of other prestigious awards, Emilia Pérez was predicted to win big at the upcoming Oscars, yet for now it might take the statuettes for Best Supporting Actress for Saldaña and Best International Feature Film only.

Slammed for months for its misrepresentation of Mexico, Emilia Pérez got into an even bigger trouble when its lead actress Karla Sofía Gascón’s offensive tweets from previous years resurfaced, causing another big scandal for the already controversial film.

Several days after the media got swirled with new speculations, Gascón released a statement expressing her intention to stay out of the public eye for sometime; unlike the rest of the lead cast, she’s not expected to attend the Oscars on March 2.
