Too handsome for Oscar Gold? Timothee Chalamet joins the ranks of repeatedly snubbed actors at the Academy Awards and fans are not happy, to say the least.

The Oscars season inevitably ends up with confusion as much as celebration. And this one was no exception. This year we had Adam Sandler being Adam Sandler, a weird Bond tribute and of course, Timothy Chalamet not winning. The latter particularly got fans talking.

The young actor's performance was widely praised by critics, yet the desired golden statuette remained just out of reach.

“I hope yall know they’re 100% going to dicaprio timothee. get ready to celebrate his best actor win in 2037,” X user varcmus just might have figured out why.

The DiCaprio Curse Strikes Again

If you've followed the Oscars over the years, you might have noticed a strange and infuriating trend. Some of Hollywood's most charismatic and undeniably talented actors seem to face an invisible barrier when it comes to claiming the industry's highest honor.

Some refer to it as a DiCaprio Curse as he was arguably one of the most robbed actors ever. Others may know it under the “Slap the Stud.”

Either way, the theory suggests that exceptionally good-looking male actors often find themselves repeatedly nominated but perpetually overlooked when it comes to actually winning.

It's not surprising that Chalamet has fallen victim to this so-called curse. And fans are not the only ones to compare the young actor to Leonardo DiCaprio. Even Greta Gerwig once described him like this:

“A young Christian Bale crossed with a young Daniel Day-Lewis, with a sprinkle of young Leonardo DiCaprio. Then raise them speaking French in Manhattan and give them a Mensa-level IQ and a love of hip-hop.”

Fans Voice Their Disappointment

The fanbase didn't take the snub lightly. Even before the ceremony, there was a premonition that history might repeat itself.

“Ridiculous..all I can say is why why, why? Who did he piss off??! He already should have won every award going at this point. Oscar better step up this year and do what should have been done years ago,” X user Beverly95246354 expressed their frustration.

Unfortunately, as we already know now, the Academy didn't “step up” on this occasion. But there's always next year, right?

Another fan satellitecherry fairly pointed out:

“When I said Timothee Chalamet is the next Leonardo DiCaprio, I didn't mean I wanted him to be snubbed repeatedly while having an insane filmography but here we are.”

Timothee Chalamet Has Everything Ahead of Him

While this year's outcome disappointed many, it's worth remembering that Chalamet's career is still in its early phase. At just 29 years old, he has already established himself as one of his generation's most versatile performers.

If the DiCaprio curse truly is at play, there's at least some comfort in knowing how that particular story ended. After six nominations, DiCaprio finally claimed his Best Actor Oscar in 2016 for The Revenant.

Do you think that Chalamet was robbed this Oscars season?
