Tired of Meat Pies? These Turkish "Boat" Pizzas are the Game Changer You Need This Weekend
A perfect dinner option if you were looking for something new to try.
Even though most of us are used to preparing the same set of dishes again and again after coming back home from work, sometimes there’s a need for something new and unusual that comes along as well.
In cases like this, many are likely to start exploring other cuisines’ dishes that would go well for dinner. If you were trying to do something like this, look no further — this recipe for Turkish pide (which is basically a pizza in a “boat” shape) is extremely delicious and easy to make after a hard day spent outside of home.
Ingredients: Flour, 1 egg, 3 tbsp of vegetable oil, 2 tbsp of yogurt, about 100 ml of warm water, 1 tsp of dry yeast, 1 tsp of sugar, salt, 400–500 g of minced meat, 1–2 onions, 1–2 bell peppers, 2–3 cloves of garlic, 1–2 tomatoes or a bit of tomato paste, salt, pepper, paprika.
First, knead a soft dough using all the ingredients and let it rest for a while. For the filling, fry the onions until soft, add the ground meat and cook until partially done, then add the chopped bell peppers, garlic, and tomatoes, season, and let it simmer for a bit.
Divide the dough into portions, roll them into ovals, place the filling in the center, and form narrow boats by pinching the edges together. If you like, you can add a little cheese on top. Bake at a high temperature until golden brown.
Serve hot, cut into pieces.
