The actor, who currently plays the iconic superhero in the MCU, revealed that he doesn't consider his movies to be the best ever made.

We have seen countless iterations of Spider-Man on the big and small screen over the years, each bringing something new to the character and earning their own loyal fan base.

Currently, the "main" Spidey in the MCU is portrayed by Tom Holland, who has appeared in six films in the franchise and is unlikely to be recast anytime soon, although negotiations for a fourth solo film are on hold for now.

However, it seems that the actor doesn't consider his portrayal of the iconic superhero to be the best.

Holland recently stated that he thinks Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) is the best Spider-Man movie ever made, and that he is "so proud of everyone involved."

The sequel, called Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, was released just a few days ago and is already receiving as much (or more) praise than the original.

Fans are surprised by such a modest response, saying that Holland always seems to be nice and complimentary to others, and expressing shame that Tom hasn't had much luck with his recent projects.

With the exception of the Marvel movies, all of them have received mediocre or outright negative reviews, so the young actor hasn't really had a chance to shine.

It's not his fault, though, as his performance wasn't one of the many problems in movies like Cherry or Chaos Walking, so fans suggest that maybe he needs a better agent to choose the movies he's in more wisely.

However, his answer sparked the inevitable arguments among the fans.

While some claim that he is absolutely right, it seems that every fan has their own favorite version of Spider-Man, which has been causing debates for quite some time now.

Some even say that Tom's opinion is about to change, as they think that the sequel is even better than the original, perhaps being the best comic book movie period (which might be a rather bold claim that will only create even more debates across the Internet).

It is still a completely fresh take that encompasses all of the hero's brand at once, paying tribute to his other appearances, spiced up with a great animation and visual style, along with a compelling story for both kids and adults.

Fans are eager to see how the story will end, as the movie ends on a cliffhanger, which might be the only negative thing about it, leaving the viewer thirsty for more.

The animated film was released on June 2, 2023 and is currently in theaters.
