Tom Holland is great as Peter Parker… for now. There's someone even better to play the iconic character well into adulthood.

Marvel's Spider-Man trilogy is beloved by the fans, and Tom Holland has managed to capture the essence of the awkward teenage superhero that is Peter Parker.

However, people are ready to explore the Multiverse further and meet the live-action Peter B. Parker that we all love so dearly from Lord and Miller's animated movies.

The actor who portrayed him in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and its sequel just happens to be perfect for the live-action role as well.

When you think about it, Jake Johnson has already played a similar character – Nick Miller from New Girl gives off the half-broken, trying-to-figure-stuff-out, not-big-on-responsibility vibe that Peter B. Parker is all about.

In the first animated film, the character was 38 years old, and Johnson was 40 at the time. If there ever is a live-action version, he is even age-appropriate for it! Plus, we just know that Jake would look good in Spidey's signature suit.

Both Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse were huge successes in terms of the box office and reception.

The cast was wonderfully chosen, although Zoë Kravitz wasn't who the fans wanted to voice Mary Jane.

Ever since Jake Johnson's role was announced, people had been craving a New Girl reunion and dreaming of Zooey Deschanel taking on the part of MJ.

It would have been surreal if that had happened, and not casting her is honestly such a missed opportunity!

So far, 2023 has been the year of revivals and reboots. Who knows, maybe we'll still get to see Nick and Jess live out their happily ever after?

After all, Deschanel has confirmed that she'd be interested in revisiting the role. Although, New Girl didn't end that long ago – the finale aired in 2018.

Either way, we'd be down to see Zooey and Jake on screen together in any project. Those two do have a lot of chemistry, so the casting people had better take advantage of it soon.
