‘Toy Story 5’ Voice Actor Teases New Exciting Plot Twist: “The Glimpses I Saw Are Pretty Cool”

It might be hard to believe the Toy Story franchise has been around for thirty years now, but the animated movie series feels pretty well and alive — at least enough for going forward with a fifth movie.

This time, Toy Story’s beloved characters will be facing a much bigger threat rather than evil kids, and one of the leading cast’s members has already started teasing what’s to come in Toy Story 5 set to be released in 2026.

However, nothing so far has been able to beat all the doubts that the franchise’s fans have had for years now.

‘Toy Story’ Tony Hale Says What He Saw In the Script Is “Pretty Cool”

The actor, who voices a plastic spork with googly eyes named Forky, has recently confirmed that his character will be back joining the rest of the toy team as they now have to get eight-year-old Bonnie’s attention back after she falls for a frog-like tablet named Lilypad.

As Hale revealed in an interview with People recently, he has seen a part of the script, but didn’t get much into it, waiting for the movie to come out and show what it has been hiding all along.

“They give you pieces of the script, and so I saw glimpses, but the glimpses I saw are pretty cool. I don’t want to lose the surprise. I want to be completely surprised with Toy Story 5”, the actor said.

Apart from that, Hale also added that, despite being officially cast to voice Forky, he feared he could have been replaced by another, much more prominent actor.

“It wasn’t until I heard my voice on the Toy Story 4 trailer that I actually thought I was still in it. The whole time I was like, ‘They’re going to cut me. They’re going to replace me with some huge star’”, the actor stated.

‘Toy Story’ Fans Are Divided Over the Fifth Movie

Just like in many other big franchises’ cases, it’s been a frequent matter for Toy Story to hear complains about the franchise wasting its own legacy on another bunch of much weaker sequels just to get more money.

Now that there’s less than a year before the fifth movie comes to theatres worldwide, some fans aren’t really getting why there was a need for Toy Story 4 and 5 — especially since the third movie kinda wrapped it all.

“The idea of technology pushing the toys out of relevance or threatening their existence is definitely something that feels timely in today’s world. But at the same time, it seems like a narrative stretch to keep the franchise going”, a user ranted in a franchise-related thread.

“Toy Story 4 was almost like “Woody’s Retirement” from the life of being someone’s toy. And after retirement…what comes next?” MWH1980 added.

Others, however, see Toy Story 5’s premise relevant enough for modern kids who might change their mind about being glued to the screens rather than imagining new wolds with actual toys.

“There hasn't actually been a big budget kids film to talk about this (that I can think of), and I think it's a really great topic for Pixar to sink their teeth into and could really get parents and kids to think about and talk about this”, gromit_enjoyer suggested.
