Tracker season 2 finale paved the way for an even bigger tension between Colter and his mother, revealing that she had something to do with his father Ashton’s sudden disappearance and eventual death.
Even though the mystery might be solved, the show’s next instalment will likely deal with Colter’s family drama on an even more profound level. However, the definite answer for the character’s biggest concern isn’t there yet, which has just been confirmed by Tracker’s showrunners.
Tracker Creator Says Colter Isn’t Done With Family Mysteries Yet
Even though Hartley’s character does have lots of issues to solve when it comes to his family’s darkest secrets, the show’s viewers might have thought the biggest one yet is over now — however, it’s not what Tracker’s showrunner has planned so far.
“We wanted to have an episode where Colter was going to learn something about his past. And the idea began to develop, like it has to go back to his mother. But we didn’t know how that was going to land until we started writing that last scene. And it just was there and it was natural. I didn’t want it to be cheesy or over the top, but it just felt real the way we did it”, the series’ writer and showrunner Elwood Reid revealed in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
He then added that, despite the audiences’ expectations, there’s still much more to reveal about what exactly happened to Ashton Shaw.
“But to answer your question, I suspected but didn’t know. And we still haven’t unpacked what next season is going to look like. (Colter) doesn’t have all the answers, but I don’t think he’s ever going to get all the answers”, Reid said.
What Tracker Season 3 Will Potentially Be About, Explained by the Show Creator
The second season’s finale wrapped on a major cliffhanger, suggesting Colter’s personal story will become the centre of the next instalment’s attention. It also means Hartley’s character is about to find out something even more shocking and truly disgusting about his family.
“I think Colter is going to get an answer; he’s going to get some lies. I mean, look, it’s families. Families are f**king messy. Family will lie to your face”, Reid suggested, also adding that the next season will likely bring Colter’s siblings back to the screen too.
When Is Tracker Season 3 Being Released?
The show’s next instalment has been confirmed to come back for the 2025-2026 season, which means season 3’s first episode will likely air sometime around fall of this year.
