TWD Finale Calls Attention to the Series' Biggest Mistake Once Again
When The Walking Dead first premiered, it quickly became a television hit and has been running for 11 whole seasons since then. So, when it was announced that the series was coming to an end, fans were understandably disappointed.
But this also meant that a big finale that would most likely ultimately lead to spinoffs was underway, which was also very exciting. However, when the final episodes aired, the disappointment grew. They not only didn't make the most of the storylines, but they also made fans relive the biggest mistake in TWD history.
Impressions of the Final Season So Far
The main theme of season 11 is centered around family, highlighting how the survivors can achieve anything when they work together as a team. As nice as that sounds, not all fans are impressed.
Some say this season doesn't feel like a final season at all, dubbing the plot repetitive and boring. Others add that they want to see more characters they love and care about rather than the ones that aren't that interesting.
Overall, there's room for improvement for the last two episodes that haven't aired yet.
TWD's Biggest Mistake
From plot holes to killing off Glenn, TWD has made plenty of mistakes throughout the seasons. But the biggest one of them all has to be Carl's death. In the comic books, Carl doesn't get killed and lives his life out with a wife and a daughter, and fans assumed that the series would follow that. So, when he was killed off in season 8, everyone was shocked, to say the least.
In fact, a lot of fans didn't want to continue watching the series altogether. After all, he was one of the most important characters with a big story both in the comics as well as the show. And let's not forget that we had been watching him grow from a little boy into a young man for eight years, and it was heartbreaking to see him die.
As if that wasn't traumatic enough, the showrunners decided to remind us how they dropped the ball on his death. As you may remember, Carl had a dream of communities uniting as he believed they would be stronger together. Well, his dream was brought into the final episodes. However, instead of bringing fans peace, this only reminds them how he could've been a huge part of the final story. Repeating what happened seasons ago is just proof that he never should've died in the first place.
The very last episode of The Walking Dead is set to air this week, November 20.
