We finally have the answer.
One of the most popular franchises with a lasting legacy is undoubtedly Twilight. Based on the books by Stephenie Meyer, the 5-part saga has created a huge fandom and skyrocketed the careers of its cast.
Even though the last movie in the franchise was released 13 years ago, fans are still eager to learn the little details about the filming process. And you may find it surprising to discover that some of the secrets have only recently been revealed.
During a reunion at MegaCon 2025 this February, Peter Facinelli, who portrayed Carlisle Cullen in the franchise, revealed the unexpected moment that occurred during the filming of one of the most pivotal scenes in the first Twilight movie. You all remember the scene when Carlisle turns Edward into a vampire, right?
You definitely noticed that Carlisle whispered something in Edward’s ear before biting him, but for many years it remained a secret what it was he said to his co-star. Finally, Facinelli revealed the truth.
There were two takes of the scene, Facinelli said. During the first take of the scene, he leaned in to bite Robert Pattinson 's character, Edward, and whispered "I'm sorry" in his ear. This was his way of apologizing for Carlisle's actions, as he felt he hadn't gotten Edward's consent before performing the transformation. And while it was still humorous, it was the second take that became truly memorable.
In the second take, Facinelli decided to change things up and leaned in again, this time whispering, "Rob, you're so handsome". Pattinson’s response was perfect: he smiled slightly, and it was that exact smile that made it into the final cut of the movie.
All 5 Twilight movies are available to stream on Hulu in case you want to revisit that moment again.
