Tyler is officially back for the new season. But how are the writers going to explain that?

Even though hardcore Addams Family fans had very low expectations before the show's release, Netflix 's Wednesday turned out to be a quality show, being a hilarious horror comedy with enough satire, drama and, needless to say, the supernatural.

And soon, the second season will start its active production phase, so the streaming service is rushing to please us with some intriguing details. So, a year after the renewal, during Tudum in January 2024, it was officially revealed that in addition to Jenna Ortega, the second season will star Emma Myers, Joy Sunday and none other than Hunter Doohan, who appeared in the first season as Tyler Galpin, the son of the local sheriff, the romantic interest of Wednesday and ultimately a threat to Nevermore and all of Jericho, being a dangerous monster Hyde.

However, as you may recall, he was detained last season. And while his return is not as complicated from a plot point of view as having him killed, it may not be a good move unless the writers provide a competent and interesting explanation. While Wednesday Season 2 is still a while away, let's speculate on how Tyler will return to the show.

7. Sheriff Galpin May Bail Him Out

Perhaps the simplest and most obvious plot device is Sheriff Donovan Galpin's (Jamie McShane) fatherly love for his son. Yes, Tyler is a monster, but that doesn't change the fact that he's still the Sheriff's kid. And considering Donovan lost his wife, it makes sense that he would do anything to save the only person close to him.

6. For Christina Ricci's Character, All May Not Be Lost

Christina Ricci not only played Wednesday Addams back then, but also appeared in the new show as Marilyn Thornhill aka Laurel Gates, first as a mother figure to Wednesday and Enid, and then as the main villain of the season. However, considering that Gates has faked her own death before, it's entirely possible that she'll return to Jericho one way or another. Ricci is too good an actress to miss!

5. Full Monster Rampage

Also not to be overlooked is the possibility that Tyler will simply succumb to his monster alter ego, run away from Willowhill Psychiatric Hospital, and wreak incredible havoc on all of Jericho within the first few episodes.

4. Tyler's Personality Change

On the other hand, we still don't know how much Hyde is the dominant aspect of his personality. After all, he could simply have been manipulated by Laurel Gates as his master. But it's highly doubtful that psychiatric treatment would have a positive effect on him. It's a black comedy, y'all!

3. Maybe He'll Be Controlled by Wednesday?

We don't know how Hydes work, so an interesting twist might be that defeating Laurel Gates would result in Tyler completely submitting to Wednesday this time. Well, in that case, Wednesday will have a new way to play pranks on everyone at Nevermore Academy.

2. Wednesday and Tyler as an Even More Powerful Duo

On the other hand, their dynamic could develop in a healthier way. It's quite possible that Wednesday will need some outside help with another mystery investigation, and Tyler could prove to be a valuable resource. It's also a chance for redemption.

1. Nevermore to Become More Acceptable?

But one place where he can definitely find redemption is Nevermore. Even though the Hydes have been permanently banned from the Academy, Nevermore's main goal has always been to provide a home and new opportunities for all kinds of outcasts. With the new principal, perhaps those rules will change.
