It was like that for three seasons, so why should the final one be any different?

The fourth and final season of The Umbrella Academy will be shorter than all previous seasons were, consisting only of six episodes. However, it does not mean that it will be any easier for the show's most troubled character — Five.

It looks like season 4 will be Five's worst nightmare on repeat, with all his efforts to prevent the world from ending possibly rendered meaningless as the Hargreeves family appears to be heading straight into yet another apocalypse.

As a Temps Commission hired assassin, Five has actually lived for quite a while in a post-apocalyptic world. For three seasons, he has been burning the candle at both ends to try and save the world, and has succeeded... so far.

In season 4, things might change, and Five will not necessarily be fond of the changes. In the new timeline, the family's father, Reginald Hargreeves, is not only alive and well, but also in charge of... well, everything. This might make preventing the apocalypse even harder for Five, and it was exactly a walk in the park before.

Now that we know that Reginald has an alien origin, it might come to a point when Five will have to face his worst nightmare once again — and this time, his father is set to be an even more dangerous adversary.

With The Umbrella Academy heading to its finale, fans are already mentally preparing themselves to experience Five's nightmares with him. The Netflix show has never been too merciful to fans, ready to break hearts and stir some drama. Now that the story is about to end, it might as well be, you know... the actual end of the world.

Perhaps, this is exactly what The Umbrella Academy needs to go out with a bang, as fans have been pretty skeptical about season 3, blasting it as "boring" and not really featuring any kind of supervillains.

Reddit complained that "the antagonist at the end was just kind of there, with not much explanation". Now that people suspect Reginald of forging his devious plan solely to bring his wife back to life, season 4 might certainly spice things up, and not just for Five.

The fourth and final season of The Umbrella Academy will be only six episodes long, and will begin filming on February 6, 2023.
