Brits delve into London’s underworld with laughs and surprises.

Prime Video’s Deep Cover hits screens on 12 June 2025, mixing action, comedy and crime. The all-star cast includes Bryce Dallas Howard as an improv teacher, flanked by Orlando Bloom and Nick Mohammed as students, all recruited by police to go undercover in London’s darker corners.

Shot on location in London from February 2024, the film harnesses gritty cityscape visuals as its backdrop . Directed by Tom Kingsley (of Stath Lets Flats fame) and written by Colin Trevorrow, Derek Connolly, and improv duo Ben Ashenden/Alexander Owen, it aims to keep spontaneity alive — even though actual take-off-the-cuff scenes are rare.

The core story — three improv actors using their 'yes, and...' instincts in a police sting — might sound outlandish, but it's loosely inspired by true events in which real performers helped law enforcement. Critics have praised its fresh genre-blend, calling it a "crime comedy with a frisson of thriller tension" . With side turns by Sean Bean, Ian McShane, and Paddy Considine, it promises a cast as diverse and unpredictable as its plot.
