A little action never killed nobody, right?

There’s something amazing about the streaming platforms’ global chart. You may think that you know how the algorithms work so you suspect the new shows of the most beloved genres, like true crimes or westerns, or even thrillers, will end up topping the charts. And they do!

Almost every new show or movie that has great marketing and has a great story and powerful cast make it to the top in no time. But what's strange is how the old and forgotten gems appear on the “most popular” list after being released so many years ago.

Recently, for example, an 18-year-old gangster drama Waist Deep landed on Netflix 's global chart, reminding action fans how folks used to do it back then. The movie created by Vondie Curtis-Hall features Tyrese Gibson and Meagan Good. Despite the fact that it only received 76% on Rotten Tomatoes, we think it’s a fun watch that is totally worth your time.

Tyrese plays the role of an ex-convict known as O2, who is now out of prison and desperately wants to become a better person for the sake of his son. One day, his promise to always be by his side is broken when the boy is kidnapped by a tough gangster named Meat.

Meat used to be O2's partner, but their relationship ended on the wrong foot... To return the boy, the gangster demands that O2 pay him $100,000. So now, with the help of a young woman named Coco and his cousin Lucky, who knows the crime syndicate from the inside, O2 plans a scheme to make the transition happen.

After a great LA-styled fight, the kid and Coco escape, leaving the viewers on the edge of their seats trying to find out whether O2 managed to succeed and save his own life. The latest scene though will answer all the questions left hanging there.

If you are ready for some action-packed drama, watch Waist Deep on Netflix.
