Universal Highlights New Films and Sequels at CineEurope: Featuring Scarlett Johansson’s 'Jurassic World Rebirth'

Universal kicked off its CineEurope presentation in Barcelona following the nearly 200M global opening of its live − action How to Train Your Dragon. The studio showcased exclusive clips from its upcoming Scarlett Johansson − led sci−fi adventure Jurassic World Rebirth, directed by Gareth Edwards set for release on July 2. Attention also centered on Wicked: For Good, the sequel to Jon M.Chu’s 2024 hit musical,which grossed 750M globally. The presentation featured a green balloon descending into the auditorium and a behind-the-scenes look introduced by Chu.

Universal’s slate is packed with diverse films. Veronica Kwan Vandenberg highlighted plans for 27 wide releases this year, including upcoming projects from Steven Spielberg and Christopher Nolan, as well as three animated blockbusters. DreamWorks’ The Bad Guys 2 received an extended exclusive preview. Niels Swinkels announced Spielberg has finished his untitled event film, while Nolan is working on The Odyssey, shot entirely in IMAX.

Other highlights included the trailer for Netflix’s Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie, releasing September 26, plus a trailer for the third Downton Abbey film, opening September 12 in the U.S. and UK.
