She is not a hundred dollars to be loved by everyone, right?

Summary:

  • Virgin River fans are waiting for season 6 to be released this year.
  • There are many characters in the show that annoy the viewers.
  • One of the main characters, Mel, ended up in the most hated list.

Netflix 's Virgin River became a hit show with a loyal fandom. The story of a small town people going about their daily lives with a huge mystery unraveling in each episode kept viewers hooked for five full seasons.

The first season of the show was released in 2019, and since then the romance story with a soapy vibe became a fan-favorite. The audience dived deep into the lives of them all and invested much time and love into their favorite characters.

However, it seems that one particular character, despite being in the spotlight from the very beginning, ended up becoming the most annoying person ever. You may have guessed that we are talking about none other than Mel.

Played by Alexandra Breckenridge, Mel is one of the most important characters in the show, if not the only one. There were many big storylines that revolved around her. For example, the discovery of her biological father. This mystery was finally solved in the last episode of season 5.

When it comes to the reasons to hate her, Virgin River fans name different things. For example, many viewers claim that from the first seasons, which they actually consider to be the best ones, she comes off as a know-it-all, and it’s a known fact that nobody likes a person like that.

For other fans, the most annoying thing about her is actually the way she speaks. People say it’s just unbearable as it’s not even how people sound in real life.

“For me, it's dialogue writing. No person in real life uses “honey,” “sweetheart” and “sweetie” as much as she does. It feels like she has a contractual obligation to say those words at least three times in every conversation,” Redditor callmeriver03 said.

There are also viewers who can't figure out what's wrong with her, saying they try desperately to like her but fail miserably and just skip all the scenes where she's present (which is basically fast-forwarding the whole show).

Well, hopefully season 6 will introduce some storylines that will make Mel less annoying. Now that she has found her father, maybe she will be more at peace?

All seasons of Virgin River are available to stream on Netflix.
