Netflix's hit romantic drama has been around for quite some time now, and fans are starting to get annoyed with some of its aspects.

Virgin River follows Los Angeles nurse Melinda Monroe as she moves to a small California town to begin a new life and finally find peace after the death of her husband and a traumatic stillbirth. The titular town turns out to be a perfect place to start anew, Melinda's romantic feelings blossom again, and she starts connecting and bonding with the colourful locals.

The series sure does sound like a very cosy, feel-good kind of experience, doesn't it? And it was exactly that for the first couple of seasons, but with the release of season four, fans can no longer look past the show's glaring flaws.

Virgin River fans hanging out on Reddit have pointed out three major issues in season four and have explained why they simply cannot be ignored.

Hottest Season 4 Scene, According to Virgin River Fans

Time in Virgin River crawls at a snail's pace

Seeing how the series has been running for four seasons, we might assume that approximately four years would have passed in the Virgin River universe, especially, given how much has actually taken place in the show.

But, that's not the case at all, only five (5!) months have passed since the story began.

People are beginning to get really annoyed by this, joking about how Virgin River is a time anomaly. And some of the story arcs have kind of fallen apart because of it: when Charmaine got pregnant, fans were dying to see her twins but she's still pregnant in season four!

New month – new festival

Virgin River often uses some kind of big celebration or party as the centrepiece of the narrative, and every character anticipates it as something grand. And that would be just fine if the time in the series wasn't crawling along at a snail's pace: only five months have passed in the show, five months, Carl, and there has been some festival or big celebration in every one of them.

Some people are already fantasising what Christmas will be like in Virgin River, seeing how huge events are thrown for every minor holiday.

Melinda restarting her life

Melinda moved to Virgin River after losing her husband and child, but she seems to have bounced back in no time at all. In less than a year she has moved to another town, started a new job, fallen in love and got pregnant again! Many people believe the show's creators should have made her character development more realistic, affording her more time to grieve and settle down before plunging headlong into a new romantic relationship.
