'Vought Rising': Release Date, Plot & Everything We Know About 'The Boys' Spinoff
The next project in The Boys universe is already in the making.
The Boys, a brutal satirical comedy about superheroes gone crazy, ends in 2026. However, the franchise won't stop there – a prequel titled Vought Rising is scheduled for release in 2027.
The new spinoff centers on the young Soldier Boy, the brutal antagonist from the original show. It is the third spinoff from the main series, following Diabolical and Gen V.
When Will 'Vought Rising' Be Released?
News about the prequel first surfaced in the summer of 2024. The release is planned for 2027, though an exact date has yet to be determined.
According to the franchise's creator, Eric Kripke, the first season will be completed by the end of 2026. Kripke anticipates the premiere will take place in early 2027.
The first season will have eight episodes, each likely to be about an hour long. The title of the first episode has already been revealed: "Red Scare."
What Will 'Vought Rising' Be About?
The story is set in 1950s America. We will witness the birth of the Vought empire, the development of the superhero industry, and the rise of the first superheroes to celebrity status.
The plot centers on a mysterious murder investigation. The main characters are Soldier Boy and Clara Vought/Stormfront, who appeared in the original show.
Other storylines include the Nazi past of the corporation's founder, Frederick Vought, and his brutal experiments with V.
Who Makes & Stars in 'Vought Rising'?
Eric Kripke has joined the cast of The Boys as a producer, alongside Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash, who will play Soldier Boy and Stormfront, respectively. Paul Grellong, one of the writers of The Boys, has been appointed showrunner.
Jensen Ackles will once again play the central character, Soldier Boy. The cast also includes:

Mason Dye as Bombsite, one of the first superheroes who appears in both the prequel and the fifth season of The Boys;

Ethan Slater will play Thomas Godolkin, a brilliant scientist, superhero, and founder of Godolkin University who served as the main antagonist in the second season of Gen V.
Another intriguing name is Mark Pellegrino, who played Lucifer on Supernatural alongside Ackles.
The creators promise to retain the spirit of the original – dark humor, brutality, and satire of capitalism and corporate culture – but set it in the 1950s.
