Waiting for Materialists? Watch Celine Song's 95%-Rated Drama Now Available on Netflix

Celine Song's Materialists is coming out on June 13, and there's no better movie to prepare for the new hit than Song's previous film, Past Lives. Here's why it's a must-see for any romantic dreamer.
One of the most anticipated projects of the year is the romantic comedy Materialists, Celine Son's second feature film, which will be released on June 13.
Two years ago, Celine Song made her debut at the Sundance Film Festival. There, her first film, Past Lives, received rave reviews and the director quickly became one of the most talked about names in Hollywood.
If you can't wait for the romance starring Pedro Pascal, Dakota Johnson and Chris Evans, there's no better choice to make the wait easier than Past Lives.
What Is Past Lives About?
Na Young and Hae Sung were best friends as kids, but they were separated at the age of 12 when the girl's parents emigrated from South Korea to Canada. Na Young took the Western name Nora and Hae Sung could not find her.
Ten years later, Nora moved to New York to pursue her goal of becoming a writer. One day she finds Hae Sung on Facebook, and the adult characters reconnect.
After a decade-long hiatus in communication, each of them manages to build a stable life. Before proposing to his girlfriend, Hae Sung decides to visit the already married Nora to make sure he is making the right choice.
Past Lives Is Not Your Typical Romantic Movie about Love Triangle
Past Lives may sound like the most standard love story in the world: a lost relationship and suddenly found love.
But if there's one thing the last few years in the movie business have taught us, it's that A24 isn't really interested in clichéd stories. Celine Song's movie manages to tell a very familiar story from an unusual, realistic angle.
This is not a movie about lost love, but rather a sensitive reflection on a feeling that may be familiar to everyone: the longing for a life that never happened.
What Did Critics & Viewers Think of Past Lives?
