'We Are Groot': Diesel Teases New Adventure for Marvel’s Gentle Giant

I have to admit, I’m a little excited by this. Vin Diesel has been Groot for over a decade, and the idea that he’s pushing to tell a proper story about the character’s return to Planet X feels like a gift to Marvel fans. Diesel has brought Baby, Adolescent, Swole, and every version of Groot to life, and now he’s ready to explore the character’s origins in a new way.
On Instagram, Diesel shared his thoughts directly: "I was always fascinated by the origins of how the Hobbit came to be… the idea that it started as a story a father would tell his children around a campfire.
As you know, I have been deep in development and writing on so many of the characters I have grown a bond with. Just recently, I read to my family, The Arbor King… the long-awaited story of Groot’s return to Planet X… There’s movies the world wants, my incredible fans want and of course the ones the kids want. We are Groot!"
Hearing him talk like this makes me hopeful that Groot’s story isn’t finished yet. Diesel clearly cares deeply about the character, and if anyone can give us a heartfelt, fun, and adventurous Groot-centric story, it’s him. I, for one, can’t wait to see what he has in store.
