Don't worry, it seems that your favorite tortured writer (emphasis on torture) is not going anywhere from Netflix... for now.

The Wednesday fandom has been irked by a recent Independent report stating that the breakout Netflix hit spearheaded by Jenna Ortega will allegedly be moving to Prime Video if it is officially greenlit for another season.

With Netflix being tight-lipped on the renewal despite the series' huge success, the news landed just right for fans to believe that Wednesday will indeed be jumping ship to Amazon. Besides, we know that Amazon purchased MGM (the company that created the Addams Family franchise and inked the deal with Netflix on the Wednesday show) not long ago, so the possibility cannot be completely ruled out.

However, it looks like Wednesday is unlikely to switch platform anyway... mainly because the acquisition deal between Amazon and MGM happened last spring.

It happened after Netflix and MGM agreed on the adaptation of Wednesday, and the first season of Wednesday still premiered on Netflix on November 23, 2022, quickly becoming the platform's second-biggest hit.

Some people, however, believe that Netflix is no good for Wednesday (don't you just love how this girl always finds herself in some kind of love triangles?). With the platform still in radio silence about the second season, fans fear that it will either ruin the show's potential sequel or even cancel it altogether. After all, Netflix did already cancel 1899 despite the show receiving a lot of fan love.

Besides, if Wednesday does move to Amazon, there is a chance for the series' tone to change, with some people hoping for season 2 to become "darker" and "feel less like a kid show."

However, it might be too soon to worry. With its title of Netflix's second-biggest English-language TV show and absolute viral success of Jenna Ortega's Goo Goo Muck dance, Wednesday is there to stay, with showrunners already reportedly scouting for filming locations even though the show has not been officially greenlit.
