'Wednesday' Season 2 Finale Explained: What Happened to Ophelia & Who Is Isaac?

If you have questions about what happened in the Season 2 finale of Wednesday, you've come to the right place.
On September 3, the second half of Season 2 of Wednesday was released on Netflix. The new chapter of Tim Burton's fantasy series was full of revelations, though Season 3 will still have to answer some questions.
Who Are the Hydes?
Hydes are outcasts who transform into ferocious monsters. They often lose control and succumb to their monstrous side when angry. Their masters can use them as servants and living weapons.
In Season 2, Tyler and his accomplice, Laurel, were taken to Willow Hill Psychiatric Hospital. There, the outcasts were experimented on by normie Judi. Wednesday freed the captives and Tyler escaped after killing his master.
Among the escapees was his mother, Francoise, whom he thought was dead. She reunited with her son and became his new master. She explained that male Hydes have a harder time coping with the loss of a master.
They were joined by Francoise's resurrected brother, the scientist Isaac. He was also a former captive of Judi's who had killed her.
Believing the Hyde powers to be a curse, Isaac planned to remove Francoise's abilities using a device in the lab tower and Pugsley's electrical energy.
Since Pugsley would not survive the procedure, Wednesday interrupted it, damaging the machine and causing the tower to collapse. Francoise and Isaac died, leaving Tyler without a master again. In the finale, Isadora found Tyler and invited him to join the Hyde community.
Who Was Thing Before & How Did It Survive?
Isaac tried to remove the Hyde curse from Francoise by using young Gomez, who could generate electricity, as a test subject. Morticia saved Gomez by damaging the device and cutting off Isaac's arm.
Isaac died in the explosion, but his arm was revived by the machine's high voltage. Morticia and Gomez adopted it and named it Thing.
Later, Isaac sewed Thing back on in an attempt to destroy the Addams family. However, Thing developed a personality of its own. It rebelled against its owner, destroyed his mechanical heart, and returned to the Addams family.
Who Are the Alphas?
In the second season, it was revealed that Enid is an Alpha, a particularly powerful werewolf leader. To complete her transformation and avoid remaining a monster, she was forbidden from transforming during the full moon.
However, after learning that Wednesday was in danger, Enid broke the ban and transformed to help her friend. As a result, she remained in wolf form and escaped.
In the finale, Wednesday and Uncle Fester went looking for Enid to find a way to break the curse in the third season.
What Happened to Ophelia & Why Does She Want to Kill Wednesday?
Wednesday is a Raven, a clairvoyant who can see dark events. In Season 2, she began to cry black tears and partially lost her abilities due to overuse of her gift.
Her aunt Ophelia went insane from overusing her gift. Initially, Morticia opposed her daughter, fearing she would repeat her fate. However, in the finale, Morticia supported Wednesday and gave her Ophelia's diary to study her gift.
Through the diary, Wednesday establishes a telepathic connection with the missing Ophelia, who is with their grandmother, Hester. After this, Ophelia wrote, "Wednesday must die." This could be a threat, a manifestation of madness, or the influence of someone else.
Hester insisted that Wednesday spend the holidays with her, perhaps to pit her against Ophelia for healing purposes or for some other, darker reason.
