The mystery of “who is stalking Wednesday” has been around ever since the end of season 1 — only to be immediately resolved in the second episode of season 2.

The first part of Wednesday season 2 has premiered on Netflix — and, after a three-year-wait, we finally know who Wednesday's stalker is. And honestly, every single fan theory I’ve read about it turns out to be better than what the actual canon offered.

As someone who would set a specific alarm clock to wake up and watch the new season, I humbly warn you that there are spoilers ahead: if you’re not like me and you don’t like them, then wait until you’ve seen the first half of the season before you proceed.

Now, to the stalker identity. It has been revealed almost immediately, in the second episode titled “The Devil You Woe”. Aaand, it’s Agnes.

Some of you may ask “sorry, who?”. Yeah, don’t bother rewatching season 1: it’s a completely new character, Agnes Demille, who has been stalking Wednesday this entire time. You may remember her as “the redhead from the trailer”. This show really does have something against redheads, huh?

Agnes’ problem with Wednesday is, in fact, her obsession with Miss Addams; and she only wanted her attention. Wednesday, however, is preoccupied with a murder case — how lucky she is to have Agnes offering her help!

‘Wednesday’ Stalker Identity Reveal Was Pretty Bleak: My Take

It all may seem perfectly fine, but I can’t help but feel frustrated about the way the previous season’s biggest mystery was handled. By the way, I’m not alone in this.

“I'm trying [to] keep an open mind but I am slightly disappointed... they set up this whole stalker plot, had all the marketing revolve around it, only for the stalker to be revealed in the 2ND EPISODE and it was f**king [Agnes],” complained Redditor AnyIndustry3191.

This isn’t the first time a huge cliffhanger that kept people waiting for years gets resolved immediately and there’s a “puff!” instead of a “bang!”. But seriously, fans had so many great ideas on this! We used to think it could be Bianca just pretending to be nice; or Xavier acting out of spite; or even Enid, the eyes and ears of Nevermore suddenly turning her back against Wednesday!

I would have hated the Enid option, for sure, but at least it would have been a mystery that was worth the wait. Right now, we all got the “okay, so it turns out it wasn’t that big of a deal” treatment, only to move on to whatever’s been planned for this season instead.

It doesn’t mean I’m not obsessed with the show’s even darker tone and Wednesday-Enid dynamic; I basically loved the rest of the season’s first half and can’t wait for more. But honestly, Agnes?
