What happens to Cole in My Life with the Walter Boys? Noah LaLonde calls it "scary to think" about

He's run off the road. Danvers Stacey (Jedidiah Goodacre) rams the yellow Chevy Camaro Cole rebuilt, the car flips and rolls several times, and the credits arrive before anyone reaches him. Netflix has not said whether he survives.

How Cole ends up in that car

The racing plot is set up as a replacement for football, which he lost along with his sense of himself. LaLonde compared it to Chekhov's gun in a 2026 Tudum interview — introduced early, guaranteed to go off.

• Episode 7 — Cole coldly ends things with Jackie (Nikki Rodriguez), after Eliot (Naveen Paddock) and Uncle Richard (Alex Quijano) persuade him a small-town mechanic with no college plans can't give her a future.
• The racing — mentored by Mac (Chad Rook), he works his way to a qualifying event with serious prize money attached.
• The text — Jackie thanks him for quietly funding and organising the annex repairs. He drops the race on the spot to go and tell her the truth.
• The chase — Danvers, who has just lost the prize money because Cole walked, follows him home and hits the car repeatedly until it leaves the road.

What the cast and creator say

LaLonde's point about the crash is that it isn't a racing accident at all — the danger comes from a rival gone rogue, not the sport. Showrunner Melanie Halsall told Tudum in 2026 that ending there was always the plan:

"Danvers running him off the road felt like the right place to leave him. I hope he's alright for Season 4."

That is not the sentence of someone who has killed off a lead.

Does Cole survive?

Netflix has offered no on-screen answer, but the production calendar has. Season 4 was ordered early, in May 2026, and started filming in Calgary on 27 June 2026 — five weeks before season 3 even premiered. Netflix announced production on 5 August, one day before the crash aired, with a photo of Rodriguez, LaLonde, and Ashby Gentry captioned "Back in the house, back on the ranch."

The two cliffhangers people forget

While Cole is rolling his car, Eliot kisses Jackie on the dance floor at the community centre's opening night; she has no idea about the crash. Halsall doesn't read Eliot as a villain, and says his story isn't finished. Elsewhere, Alex kisses Kiley (Mya Lowe), calls it a mistake, then turns up at her door to say the opposite and gets the door shut in his face by Dylan.

And George Walter, who survived the season 2 medical emergency, is told by his doctor to get a second opinion on his scans — the kind of line this show plants a year early.
