What Is Everyone Watching? 4 Most Popular Ongoing TV Shows Today

Severance and The White Lotus were probably the most anticipated series of the year. But now that they both have ended the new seasons, the fans of quality TV are in good hands with these shows.
When the latest season of a beloved show comes to an end the viewers are left confused and trying to quickly find another show to binge (which is why watching several series at a time is a perfect idea). And there's no denying that Severance and The White Lotus have been two of the most popular shows in recent months.
But that doesn't mean that there's nothing to watch now that they're over. Here we have a list of 5 ongoing shows that still have some episodes left until the finale. And we are sure they are all worth your time. Especially, since everybody is talking about them now.
1. Elsbeth ( 2024-)
- On Rotten Tomatoes, Elsbeth has 92% from critics and 72% from viewers
- On IMDb, Elsbeth is rated 7.6/10
Elsbeth is the CBS hit show starring Carrie Preston as a witty yet very likeable character, Elsbeth Tascioni, who ended up in New York as part of the local police department. A lawyer in the past, she is now the NYPD's best consultant, juggling murder cases every day.
The show is on its second season, with the third already confirmed. And there are still a few episodes left until the season 2 finale, which is scheduled on May 8. That promises to be something, because as you might remember, there's still one murder case that Elsbeth hasn't been able to solve. And even trying to solve it could end up endangering the entire police department.
2. The Righteous Gemstones (2019-)
- On Rotten Tomatoes, The Righteous Gemstones has 91% from critics and 83% from viewers
- On IMDb, The Righteous Gemstones is rated 8.1/10
The Righteous Gemstones is a perfect choice for those who already miss Walton Goggins and his Rick character from The White Lotus. In this HBO series, he plays the quirky Baby Billy Freeman, the most beloved character of the series.
“I've come to the realization that Walton Goggins as Uncle Baby Billy Freeman, makes him one of the greatest TV characters of all time. I'm always excited to see where they go with the character. That's it, that's my post,” Redditor thoover88 said.
Created by and starring Danny McBride, the series follows a wealthy and dysfunctional family of televangelists who navigate scandal, greed, and power struggles, and all of that – all under the banner of faith. The show is now on its season 4 with the last one arriving on Max on May 4.
3. Matlock (2024-)
- On Rotten Tomatoes, Matlock has 100% from critics and 79% from viewers
- On IMDb, Matlock is rated 7.6/10
Kathy Bates makes sure we never forget how talented she is. In CBS' Matlock, she plays a woman named Matty Matlock, aka Madeline Kingston, a grieving mother eager to right the wrong done to her daughter, and also a sharp lawyer ready to find the truth in any case.
The series follows Matlock entering a huge law company Jacobson Moore under false pretenses. She says she is just an old woman who needs a job, but what she is really meaning to do is to tear the company down.
The series’ season 1 is coming to an end and Matlock’s secret was recently revealed by her friend, and the upcoming finale promises to be a tough one.
4. Abbott Elementary ( 2021-)
- On Rotten Tomatoes, Abbott Elementary has 99% from critics and 86% from viewers
- On IMDb, Abbott Elementary is rated 8.2/10
The last but not the least is this light hearted comedy on ABC that became everyone’s favourite mockumentary-style series of all time (sorry, The Office fans). The show follows the lives of children of Abbott Elementary school and their teachers.
Season 4 was absolutely Ava-centered, and it means that the season’s finale, which is tomorrow, will be something worth waiting for.
