What Makes 'On the Road' So Unique According to Diego Luna?

its authentic portrayal of hidden places and complex lives stuns.
I have to say, reading Diego Luna talk about On the Road really made me curious to see the film. He isn’t exaggerating when he says it’s completely different from anything he’s been involved in before.
"When I read the script, I found it very powerful, very moving, very emotional and at the same time revealing of a Mexico we rarely see, lost places that we’re not even aware of, where life happens in all its richness and complexity.
I can’t really compare this film to anything I’ve been involved in before," Luna said. And honestly, just from that description, I can already tell this isn’t your typical drama.
What makes it so unique is how it dives into hidden corners of Mexico and the lives of people you rarely see on screen. The story of Veneno and Muneco isn’t glamorous — it’s raw, dangerous, and very human.
I also love that Luna is producing, not just acting.
"I love producing and I love seeing the process of others. And David’s process is quite enriching to observe," he shared. It’s clear he’s genuinely invested in telling a story that feels authentic, not just entertaining.
For me, films like this stand out because they take risks. They explore overlooked worlds, challenge comfort zones, and make you think. I can’t wait to see On the Road and experience what Luna describes firsthand.
