What’s Kevin Costner’s Side of the Story on 'Horizon' 2?

The actor finally speaks out.
Honestly, hearing about this lawsuit hit me like a thunderclap. Kevin Costner has always been, for me, a symbol of gentlemanly charm and classic Hollywood masculinity. So, seeing his name in connection with allegations on Horizon 2 feels surreal.
I don’t know the truth — that’s what the courts are for — but the fact that the accusation exists already gives a crack in that golden image.
Costner fired back in a court declaration, calling the allegations "patently false" and "deeply disappointing."
He said:"I can only assume that purpose was to use this sensationalistic language to embarrass and damage me and the Horizon movies on an ongoing basis in order to gain a massive and unjustified payday…
Equally as bad, having to read about and address allegations I know to be false involving the words ‘rape’ and ‘assault’ has been an absolute nightmare."
What Kevin Costner Says About the Allegations on Horizon 2
The lawsuit, filed by stunt performer Devyn LaBella in May, claims she was forced to perform an unscripted rape scene. Costner maintains it was not a rape scene, explaining:
"This was one artistic shot designed to imply what was going to happen off-screen, and purposely was not a 'simulated rape' as Devyn now falsely describes it."
He added that there was no nudity or simulated sex, and his company is seeking to dismiss the suit under California’s anti-SLAPP law, which protects free speech on matters of public concern.
My Take on the Horizon 2 Controversy
From my side, this is a stark reminder that behind the golden veneer of Hollywood glamour, the reality can sometimes be unsettling. That glossy image of the "good old Hollywood" — the charm, the prestige, the stardom — occasionally hides something darker.
Even if Kevin Costner is innocent, just seeing these kinds of allegations around Horizon 2 makes you pause and reflect on the industry as a whole.
