When traditions work best!

There’s no secret that the South Korean TV industry is now extremely popular around the world, and fans are demanding more and more new genres and unique storylines in new releases.

However, there are many viewers who appreciate the traditional approach to creating a series. They don't need unique and unexpected plot twists. Instead, they want their K-dramas, especially romances, to be as predictable and clichéd as possible. Like King the Land, for example.

That's why we created this list of classic rom-coms for you to binge.

1. Extraordinary Attorney Woo (2022)

At the center of this K-drama is a story about 27-year-old Woo Young Woo. Being literally a genius with an IQ of 164, she graduated at the top of her class from the prestigious Seoul National University for both college and law school.

However, she struggles with autism and finds it difficult to interact with people. Until the moment she meets her colleague, Lee Jun Ho…

2. What's Wrong with Secretary Kim (2018)

This K-drama revolves around the narcissistic Lee Young Joon, the vice president of a huge company, and his secretary Kim Mi So. Despite the fact that he is a cold-blooded soul-sucker when it comes to his employees, Kim was the only one who never gave in to his games.

One day, however, she decided to leave the office, and suddenly the big boss realized that he couldn't imagine his life without her. That's when he started doing everything he could to keep her around.

3. Touch Your Heart (2019)

Well, this K-drama is about Oh Yoon Seo, a popular actress who is famous for her looks but not for her acting skills. And after she gets into a scandal with the son of a chaebol family, her career seems to be destroyed.

One day, however, a director decided to give her a chance and invited her to play the lead role, but first asked her to spend some time getting used to the part. So she has to be a lawyer's secretary for a few months. Right there in the office she meets her future sweetheart, who at first is really annoyed with the young woman.

4. Destined With You (2023)

The romance that blossoms after someone saves another is just the right trope for a romantic comedy. At the center of this K-drama is the male lead, Jang Shin Yu, who has a curse on him, and the female lead, Lee Hong Jo, who is a woman with a special book to save him.

5. True Beauty (2020)

The romance that combines all the beloved clichés in a K-drama. You have your rain scenes, the walking home together scenes, the falling and catching scenes and so much more.

The series tells us about a young girl who is considered ugly because of her pimples and glasses, but who feels and looks pretty with makeup. That is why she would rather die than go out of her house without makeup on her face. And two male leads start a competition to win her heart. Who will she choose?

6. Doctor Slump (2024)

This K-drama also has a typical rom-com trope that all of us love so much: lost enemies to lovers. At the center of the series are Yeo Jeong Woo and Nam Ha Neul. Those two used to be rivals in medical school, but after they graduated their lives got separated.

However, they meet again at the lowest point of their lives and from the support and comfort they gave to each other – a romantic relationship has blossomed.
