The show's title has it in plural. So...

If you're wondering what is happening to the 17 rings of power that are supposed to be in the focus of the Amazon Lord of the Rings prequel, then you are just like theorizing Reddit fans.

According to one of the theories posted on Reddit, the other rings are to be forged in the second season, as Sauron returns to Eregion and persuade Celebrimbor to craft the rings with him.

Naturally, one ring — the Elden ring — would not be forged in the process, as the dark wizard will be the only one to craft it.

"I think that this is hinted at in this season's finale when Galadriel tells Celebrimbor not to work with him again. This is a hint that Halbrand will indeed attempt to work with Celebrimbor again, but Calebrimbor will be a bit reluctant due to Galadriel telling him not to do so. So, Halbrand will use his charm and deceit to convince Celebrimbor to ignore Galadriel's suggestion," the theory reads.

Sauron's identity was revealed in the final episode of The Rings of Power season 1. Halbrand was suspected to be the dark wizard in disguise from the very first moment fans saw him in the promotional materials — even before the show premiered. The reveal was roasted by many people as "predictable" and thus not really exciting, but, according to actor Charlie Vickers, there are more surprises in store.

Season 2 will be focused more on the evil wizard now that his identity is no longer a secret. Vickers himself teased that fans will be "watching his plans unfold."

"You're with him as he moves the pieces on the chessboard," he hinted.

With the shooting for season 2 already underway, the premiere date remains unknown. It has been confirmed, however, that Amazon is looking forward to extending the story up to five seasons.
