Where is Flynn in The Librarians: The Next Chapter? Why Noah Wyle hasn't shown up, and the Comic-Con tease that has franchise fans planning his comeback already.
The Librarians: The Next Chapter has time travel, Camelot, a first-ever vampire, and one glaring absence the show refuses to explain: Flynn Carsen. The original Librarian. The Noah Wyle of it all. He's a producer on the series, his fingerprints are on the whole franchise, and yet in-universe? Nothing. Not a cameo, not a postcard, not a magical sticky note on the Annex fridge.
The boring reason and the interesting reason
The boring reason: scheduling. Wyle has been busy winning Emmys for The Pitt, and production overlapped badly enough that it also cut into his Leverage: Redemption involvement.
The interesting reason: showrunner Dean Devlin has said Wyle has been holding out for a proper solo Flynn project — a movie, or even a revival of the original series running alongside The Next Chapter. Which means Flynn isn't gone. Flynn is being saved. Like a good bottle. Or a boss fight.
And then Comic-Con happened
At the San Diego Comic-Con ahead of the season 2 premiere, the cast basically started manifesting on the record. Christian Kane wants everyone back — he name-checked Rebecca Romijn's Eve and John Larroquette's Jenkins. And Callum McGowan, who plays new lead Vikram, went furthest of all, pitching a showdown between the old team and the new one:
McGowan pushed for Wyle to return and "have a Librarians face-off" between Vikram's and Flynn's teams.
