Although Untamed is set in Yosemite National Park, it was actually filmed in a different location. Here's where you need to go if you want to follow in Kyle Turner's footsteps.

The new Netflix hit, Untamed, is set in Yosemite National Park, a vast wilderness where it's easy to get lost or disappear, escaping a dark past or hiding from the law.

In reality, however, filming took place in a completely different location: British Columbia, Canada. Although the story takes place in California, the creators chose Canadian landscapes that perfectly capture the essence of the wilderness.

1. Stawamus Chief

El Capitan, the towering granite cliff in Yosemite, is one of the key locations in Untamed. However, the production team chose a similar, more accessible location: Stawamus Chief in Squamish, British Columbia.

While El Capitan rises over 3,000 feet, the slightly shorter Stawamus Chief (2,300 feet) has sheer vertical faces that provide the perfect backdrop for intense action sequences. The Chief is a world-famous climbing destination, so it was a natural choice for the show's creators.

2. The Cabin in Murdo Frazer Park

Kyle Turner's remote cabin is actually located in Murdo Frazer Park in North Vancouver, not deep in the California wilderness.

Fans of another popular Netflix series Virgin River will recognize this cabin as Mel's house. Despite its isolated appearance in both shows, the cabin is actually close to urban areas.

3. Nita Lake Lodge

The grand hotel in Untamed was inspired by The Ahwahnee, Yosemite's historic luxury lodge. However, filming actually took place at the Nita Lake Lodge in Whistler.

This lakeside resort is renowned for its spa, elegant interiors, and breathtaking views of Nita Lake. Several key scenes were shot in its lakeside bar and restaurant.

Travelers looking to visit can book a room starting at around $188 CAD per night and experience a piece of the show's setting firsthand.

4. Morris Lake

One of the most visually striking scenes in Untamed is the horseback riding sequence filmed at Morris Lake near Harrison Mills.

The distant mountains were digitally enhanced to resemble Yosemite's peaks, but the picturesque Morris Lake itself required little alteration.

5. The Town of Hope

The small town of Hope, located two hours from Vancouver, served as the setting for several scenes. A tattoo shop occupied a building on 5th Avenue, and the Mariposa Moon shop, which featured a wolf mural, was painted specifically for the series.

After filming, however, the mural had to be painted over, despite locals' desire to preserve it.
