While Brad Pitt Eats with Ease, Uma Thurman Is Still Waiting to Nail the Perfect Bite Scene

The actress reveals her biggest on-camera fear.
Uma Thurman has faced sword fights, high-stakes showdowns and Quentin Tarantino-level chaos on screen — but ask her to eat on camera, and that’s when the nerves truly kick in. Appearing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, the Oscar-nominated actress confessed that performing a convincing eating scene is still on her professional "bucket list."
"I realised after doing one of those DSM tests — you know, the ones psychiatrists use to figure out what’s wrong with you — that I have anxiety about eating in front of people," Thurman said.
Though the self-assessment ultimately deemed her "just fine," it helped her connect the dots around why filming meals gives her pause.
"There are so many takes, and you don’t choose the food," she explained. "You have to chew, talk, not choke… it’s complicated!" She contrasted her experience with that of Brad Pitt — who, as Fallon joked, seems to snack his way through entire filmographies. "He doesn’t care what it is — apple, onion — he’s always eating something," the host laughed.
Despite her long list of achievements, Thurman said the elusive eating scene remains an oddly daunting challenge. "It’s like skinny-dipping or something," she quipped. "One of those things you know you haven’t done."
